Let’s flashback a few short years and think of the word ‘hybrid’.  What is flooding through your mind right now? More than likely it is images of grotesquely styled abominations rolling down the road.  For the life of me I don’t understand a manufacturer’s rationale on designing hybrid/eco cars in such God awful shapes. Yes I know aerodynamics can be blamed for most of it...but give me a break.  You can design a car to slice through the wind and have it look good at the exact same time. Case in point...this 2019 Honda Insight

Slap me silly looks like a regular car!  Actually looks pretty damn good no matter what is under the hood!.  The Insight is the perfect mix of Civic and Accord styling along with a practical and comfortable interior.  The infotainment rig is easy to use and there is plenty of room in the backseat. There is so much room in fact that the Insight maybe the perfectly sized vehicle for the masses.  You can fit normal size adults front and rear, kids will find the rear seats cavernous along with the fact it will swallow baby seats perfectly…add that along with a full size-ish trunk you have the perfect family hauler!

The Insight is powered by a gas electric drivetrain making 151 horsepower and a 195 ft/lbs of torque.   It’s not a sports sedan...it’s not meant to be. Is it fun to drive? Meh sure. Is it more fun to drive than most hybrids...yeah! The Civic chassis is a playful thing so there is always an eagerness to toss it in a few bends.

So how do I sum up the 2019 Honda Insight?  Is it the most practical alternative to the family car on the road today?  It very well maybe.
